Baggage Truck to Athens

Location: Skate Escape - located next to Piedmont Park at 12th Street & Piedmont

For skaters arriving early, you can leave your bags on the luggage truck parked outside of Skate Escape and enjoy an afternoon in Piedmont Park and Midtown before the Friday Night Skate. Skaters not taking the bus to Athens after the night skate need to remove their luggage before the truck departs at 9:00 pm.

Gather up for the Friday Night Skate. Skate Escape will stay open until 7 pm for any last-minute equipment purchases.

Friday Night Skate

Depart: Skate Escape - located next to Piedmont Park at 12th Street & Piedmont

This fun roll through Atlanta goes at a social pace with police escort, and lets you preview the last few miles of the course. We roll out at 7 p.m. Helmets and wrist protection required.

Bus to Athens leaves from Skate Escape.

Depart: Skate Escape - located next to Piedmont Park at 12th Street & Piedmont

Approximately 90 minutes to Athens, so grab your meal from Willy's and visit the restroom. If you are late, you miss the bus. Reservations required. Cost is $30.00. After checking into your Athens hotel you will have time for a night of music in the town which spawned The B-52's, R.E.M., and Wide Spread Panic.

Packet Pickup and Late Registration

You must pick up your packet TODAY from the Expo at the Classic Center at 300 N. Thomas Street in Athens. NO PACKET PICKUP on Sunday. Here you can also register or make last-minute changes to your preferred distance (this may incur a change fee.) Be sure to consult your A2A program inside your packet for times and locations of different happenings.

Course Check Skates

Rolling out from the Classic Center, check out the beginning of the course, with escorts. One skate will be fast-paced, another leisurely/social. Please stay behind or within sight of your skate leader(s) as there is much construction on the UGA campus.

MANDATORY! Henry's Skaters' & Drivers' Meeting.

Don't miss the famous night-before Athens-to-Atlanta meeting in the beautiful Classic Center Auditorium at 6:00 p.m. Hear Event Director Henry Zuver's famous pep talk and Event rules, learn about last-minute course changes/road conditions, meet the hundreds of skaters from around the world with whom you'll spend the next day. You must be present for the special prize drawings.

87 and 38-Mile Start

Location: Classic Center in Athens

The 38 & 87 mile distance events roll out from the Athens' Classic Center. Don't be late, we won't wait! Course officially closes at 5:00 p.m. (9.5 hours after the start).

The Baggage Truck will be at the Classic Center from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Bags will be taken to the half distance or the full distance finish area. Any bag not marked for the half distance will be taken to the full distance finish. Bags not claimed at the half will be taken to the full distance finish area. Any bags still not claimed by 5 p.m. will be at the awards area from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. (The baggage truck will also be located at the 52-mile start. See below.)

Checkpoints will have water and fruit. If you have a special food you want at the different checkpoints, checkpoint boxes will be in front of the Classic Center until 7:30. Place your food items in a bag with your name on it then place in the box marked with the checkpoint number where you want your stuff. Checkpoints 1 & 2 are on the first half, checkpoint 3 is the half distance, checkpoints 4, 5, & 6 are on the second half. You must retrieve your own items at the checkpoints. Volunteers do not have time to do this.

52-Mile Event Bus

52-Mile Event Start from Dacula

Location: 713 Hi Hope Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30046

The baggage truck will be located at the 52-Mile start from 9:30 to 10:00 am. Checkpoint boxes will also be at the 52 mile start for checkpoints 4, 5, & 6 until 10:00 am.

38-Mile Finish and Buses to Fourth Ward Skate Park

Skaters finish their 38-mile distance in Dacula sometime after 9:30, and are bused to the events in Fourth Ward Skate Park. Make sure you pick up your 38 mile finish mugs and baggage on the truck in Dacula before you depart. Bags not claimed at the 38-mile finish will be transported to Fourth Ward Skate Park.

87 & 52-Mile Finish

Location: Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward Skate Park

The first 87-mile finishers should arrive in Fourth Ward Skate Park as early as 11:30 a.m. and 52-mile skaters are expected to arrive shortly after. Blimpie sandwiches await all participants at the Atlanta finish line. Course closes at 5 p.m.

Make sure you pick up your 52 or 87 mile finish mug, and baggage on the truck before the Awards Ceremony. Any baggage not picked up at the finish line will be taken to the Awards Ceremony.

Awards Ceremony

Location: At the 52/87 finish line in Fourth Ward Skate Park

During this ceremony, awards will be given to participants in all age categories. Please plan to stay in Atlanta for it! You must be present to claim your prize, or have someone receive your prize for you.

Bus to Athens leaves from the Awards Ceremony.

A bus has been arranged to return to Athens after the Awards Ceremony for people who have opted to extend their stay in Athens . If you are late, you miss the bus. Reservations required. Cost is $30.00.
