I'm glad to see so many of the few, the proud, the waterlogged, the insane people who had the guts to finish (or even attempt) the Athens-to-Atlanta Skating Marathon. This was my first loss of sanity(attempt to finish) so even though my body quit from underneath me after 65 mile (and 7:15), I am very proud of how far I got. Besides, I've only been a hard core skater since March of this year. But that brings me to my question.
Can any (or all) of you old hands at racing (5/10k or endurance) offer a highly motivated intermediate skater some training tips for next year? I trained hard for many months, but I'm sure I missed something important. Maybe some of you here in the Atlanta area (I live in Marietta) would be willing to let me train with you next year. I have some decent 5-wheel Roces Paris skates that fit well, so I feel the main thing I lack is experience. Every word of advice will be greatly appreciated.
Hope to see Y'all Oct. 8, 1995 for the Big, Wet One.
